The Foundation: Cultural Awareness and Performing Arts

The Foundation is pleased to support programs that enhance cultural awareness and exposure to the arts. In recent years, we have provided funding for classroom instruction in traditional Appalachian and African dance, musical instruments, multicultural classroom materials, and the development of a sister-school program in San Cristobal, Mexico.

In the past, the Foundation has sponsored the following events:

• Darrel Rose’s African drumming workshop & performance
• Zulu Connection’s African/Caribbean/Haitian dance classes
• Ricki Harada’s hip hop lessons & class performances
• Hobey Ford’s puppetry performance
• David LaMotte’s music workshops & class performances
• Family Story Night
• Photography workshops for the 2nd, 3rd and 4th grades
